Summer science at SMFR
Welcome back for what we hope to be an incredible and fun summer term.
Science is the art of asking probing questions to learn about the natural world and how everything works.
This term each year group is looking at some fascinating things:
Year 1
Year 1 will be investigating plants and their parts as well as animals
Year 2
Year 2 will be investigating how animals survive in different habitats
Year 3
Year 3 will be looking at plant nutrition and reproduction in the first half term and light and shadow in the second half term.
Year 4
Year 4 will be spending the term investigating electricity. This will include investigating and creating circuits, as well as looking at the potential dangers of electiricity.
Year 5
Year 5 will have great fun investigating the properties of different materials and how these properties are used by humans to create useful objects to be used
Year 6
Year 6 will investigate light and refraction for the first half term and then evolution and genetic inheritance for the second half, looking at various scientists such as Charles Darwin who vastly changed the way we view the natural world.
