Maths:

We are continuing with our  topic this week in Maths which is Addition and Subtraction. For each day you will find a Varied Fluency sheet and a Problem Solving and Reasoning sheet. These sheets are differentiated so you do not need to complete all of them. Just select one Varied fluency and one problem solving and reasoning for each day.

To help you choose what sheet your child needs here is a guide to what each level means:

A red star sheet= developing (challenge level is easier)

A blue star sheet= expected (this is the level we are expecting in Year 3)

A gold star sheet= greater depth (mastery level and this is challenging)

Each day you can use the White Rose Maths link to find the corresponding video. This gives you examples of the questions and helps to explain what you need to do. To find the video, follow the link provided and then look for the video which has the same title as your worksheet.

There are also Oak Academy videos to watch which is also to help support your child. Example questions have also been put together on a weekly copy of the PowerPoint slides to practice before completing the 2 sheets for each day.

English:

For this week we are going to starting to look at a new topic 'Poetry!' This is a really nice way to end the half term and we have included a range of fantastic activities from reviewing a range of poems to even performing a poem to your family members!  If you are struggling with any of the tasks or just want to learn more about poetry just click on the star below as you will find some really interesting videos!

You will also find a SPaG activity and relevant PowerPoint Slides. These sheets are similar to Maths where you have a varied fluency and application and reasoning. These are differentiated so you need to select which level you want to try for varied fluency and Application and Reasoning!

Reading Comprehension:

Each week we will set 2 different reading comprehension challenges for you to complete at home. Spend 10-15 minutes reading the text and then answer the questions. Read what the question is asking you are try your very best!

We have also included a new series where famous celebrities read an extract from their favourite children's book! We will include a new episode each week to listen to!

RE:

To end this half term's Big Question we would like to complete 2 reflection activities!

Task 1: Write down all the information and facts you have learnt about this topic in reference to our big question this half term: Is a Jewish Child Free to Choose How to Live?
You can use key words, sentences describing what you have found most
interesting and even pictures (e.g. key features of Shabbat).

Task 2: Draw or paint in the space below what our ‘Big Question’ means to you: Is a Jewish Child Free to Choose How to Live? Answer the questions below in full sentences!

Science:

We are finishing our topic 'Animals including humans' this week with a fantastic new task! With all your learning about the different nutrient groups from last week's task, Mrs Eaglen has set Year 3 a task! She has asked Year 3 to design a healthy packed lunch to promote to all the children at St Mary's Farnham Royal. You need to think about what you could include and think about what will be healthy, nutritious and yummy!

Use the video clips and resources to help you complete this task and we have included the help sheet from last week in case you didn't get a chance to use it!

We hope you enjoy this task and there is challenge sheet to reflect on your learning from this topic and explain your what you have enjoyed!

Topic:

This week in Topic you are going to be learning about the historical facts to do with Slough. Use the weblinks below to find out some really interesting information about ideas/inventions that originated in Slough! Complete the table and see how much you can find out!

If you cannot access the web links, have a think about what facts you have learnt over the past couple of weeks about Slough!

Art:

We are so impressed with your fantastic pieces of art this half term, we are going to end the half term by becoming mini artists once more! This week we are looking at painting in a monochrome style! Mono means one and chrome means colour, so monochrome art is art that is created using just one colour. You might consider how using different shades of one colour, and adding texture with different paint and pencil marks can add interest.

You can use paint, pencils, or  any resources you have at home! There is some information on the first page about warm and cold colours are and some inspiration for your own picture!

Get creating!

PSHE:

At SMFR for PSHE we use the SCARF programme. To incorporate PSHE within your remote learning, the SCARF programme have created units that  cover key concepts and outcomes within SCARF’s half-termly units and these activities are  to encourage children to think and reflect. These focus on positive themes and developed specifically to help build positive relationships in the home. These activities do not necessarily require lots of resources and their purpose are to promote discussion and provide safe PSHE activities to all children.

This week we are looking at the world around us! Your task is to: The teachers have asked his school council to think of ways that they can help to look after the school environment but Harold is a bit stuck and can’t think of any ideas. Think of a way that the school can help the school environment. It could be:

Ways to reduce waste in school (think about waste caused by paper, food, packaging etc.)

 Ways to save water,

 Ways to save energy

Ways to look after the plants and animals that live in the school environment

How to Take Care of the Environment - 10 Ways to Take Care of the Environment
