Phonics Zone

Welcome to our Phonics Zone...

The teaching of Early Reading and Phonics is a strong focus for us here at SMFR, as reading truly is the key to all other learning. We are committed to nurturing confident readers, who LOVE books and encourage you to support this at home - as even 5 minutes a day makes a HUGE difference.

You will need a log in for our Reading Eggs platform to support early reading. Ask your teacher if you don't have one... laugh

  • FFT Success for All Phonics is our embedded Phonics programme, that starts in nursery, and supports this vital aspect of your child's learning. Please access the Parent Portal here: https://parents.fft.org.uk/ If you need the access code, please do request this through the school office.

  • Reading Eggs Reading Eggs is great for helping your reading skills and has a fun Phonics section which our children like. You can find your child's log in at the front of their Reading Record. Please ues this to encourage your child to engage with early reading.

  • The Lightening Squad: We do run a catch up programme that you may be given a log in to, to support your child at home. Your teacher will give you a letter (with a log in and password) if your child is doing this in school, so that you can do this at home. https://fft.org.uk/literacy/catchup/
