PE Summer 2025 with Joe Wicks
This summer, Joe Wicks (The Body Coach) is back with a new mission: to get kids moving and have fun. Joe has teamed up with the makers of the muchloved CBeebies show ‘Hey Duggee’ to co-create and launch 'Activate' - a free animated fitness series designed especially for children, backed by the government as part of a new partnership to reach families and schools across the country.
With many parents concerned about keeping their kids active over the holidays, 'Activate' is an easy way to use screen time for good and make fitness fun. The series features short, five-minute episodes packed with energy, movement, and joy that can be easily integrated into your day – perfect for quick bursts of activity at home. Fronted by an animated Joe Wicks and co-created by Studio AKA, the makers of ‘Hey Duggee’ - 'Activate’ combines award-winning animation, bright and energetic new characters, and wellknown, upbeat tunes from some of the nation's favourite artists, thanks to exclusive music partner Universal Music UK.
Children will also meet six new characters – the Activators – each with their own unique spark, making movement feel personal, playful and inclusive for every child. Backed by the Department of Health and Social Care, Department for Education and Department for Culture, Media and Sport, the series is designed to boost children's physical and mental health and keep them coming back for more. It's all about building confidence, supporting wellbeing, and helping children develop healthy habits for life. The first episode of 'Activate' is now out on The Body Coach YouTube channel, with new episodes released weekly over the summer.

The children were able to dress up as lifeguards and Rescue Crew and act out scenarios relating to water hazards as well as group activities identifying hazards in rivers, at the beach and at harbours. The day culminated in a very informative Assembly for the whole school on the important role of the RNLI.
The RNLI is a Charity that saves lives at sea, and you can boost your knowledge even further by visiting RNLI.org/safety. You can even sharpen your skills with a free outdoor swim lesson if you visit SwimSafe.org.uk.
Remember
1. Stop and think When you're by the water ask yourself: Is it a safe place to swim and is there a lifeguard? How deep is the water? What dangers could be under the surface?
2. Stay Together - Family and friends can help in an emergency. Always go with someone else. Tell someone where you are going and when you'll be back. Carry a phone if you can to call for help.
3. If you get into trouble in the water, FLOAT. Practice floating next time you are at the swimming pool.
4. If you can help someone else who is in trouble call 999 or 112. Once you've called for help stay back from the edge and don't go in the water.
