Chance to Shine - Spring 2 -  2024

Chance to Shine is a national Charity that aims to give all children the opportunity to play, learn and develop through cricket. We have been lucky enough to have the Charity in school on Fridays this term, coaching years, 4, 5 and 6. Helping our children Flourish is upmost here at St Mary's, and with this in mind, the Charity have also been running leadership sessions for our Sports Leaders and House Captains in Year 6 at lunchtimes. During these the children have been working on their confidence, problem solving, creativity and communication skills in order to promote Cricket at St Mary's and lead mini cricket sessions for younger children in the Summer Term.

Football Match v Seer Green - Wednesday 28th February 2024

What a great start to this football year! Our squad of players played incredibly well in drizzly conditions to overcome a tough team from Seer Green, with a win of 3-0. Tyler excelled and got his first hat trick for St Marys. Manny came away with man of the match chosen by the opposition. Well played everyone!

GOLD Games Mark for St Mary's

We are delighted to announce that we,St Mary's Farnham Royal, have achieved the School Games GOLD Mark Award for the 2022/23 academic year.

The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.

Our sporting achievements this year include: Basketball coaching and festivals, Skateboarding days, Football matches, Dance workshops, Sporting guest speakers including ex paralympians, Expert Cricket coaching, Skipping festivals and golf competitions. With many young people competing in local inter-school competitions this year, we are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible.

As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.

We look forward to applying once again in 2024!

SANTA DASH

On Friday 8th December 2023, SMFR joined in with hundreds of other Schools in the country for the National Santa Dash. Our children had great fun singing carols and Christmas songs as they dashed around the playground wearing their Christmas hats donated by The Florence Nightingale Hospice. Thank you to everyone who donated to this wonderful charity. So far we have raised over £3000, an astonishing amount, which shows just how generous our families are.

Dawn Walk in memory of Raj Rana

On 21st September 2023, children and parents participated in a walk in order to raise money for the Brain Tumour Charity. The children were able to buy breakfast, including hot chocolate and croissants. There was a great turn out and we were able to donate £373.28 to this amazing Charity. Thank you to everyone who helped.
